General Information

Directions in Berlin:
For directions please see the attached maps and descriptions below. You can also use http://www.berlin.de/stadtplan to trace down a location by inserting the street name and house number.

Public transportation in Berlin:
If you arrive at Tegel Airport or any of the Berlin railway stations, you need to buy an AB zone ticket for a single ride (2.10 €). A single ride allows you to change from one line to the other, or from bus to metro/streetcar etc, as long as you do not exceed 90 minutes. The yellow BVG vending machines “speak” English. You can also buy tickets directly from the bus driver (Airport Bus Tegel) and in the streetcars (vending machines, only coins accepted), but not in the metro or S-Bahn.
During the conference, you can use these AB zone single tickets for all transportation between conference locations.
If you arrive/depart from Schoenefeld Airport, you need an ABC zone ticket (2.80 €).
Please keep all used public transportation tickets for the travel cost reimbursement.

Location of the Apartment Haus Zarenhof
(Attention: There is another “Hotel Zarenhof” in Berlin – but you are in the “Apartment Haus Zarenhof”!)
The Zarenhof Apartment Hotel in the district Prenzlauer Berg can be reached from Tegel Airport in 35 minutes and Schoenefeld Airport in 50 minutes). There’s an underground station right by the hotel (station “Eberswalder Strasse” on the U2 line). Tram/streetcar lines M1 and M12 are also close.

From Schoenefeld Airport SXFTake the S-Bahn city train S9 or the regional train to station Alexanderplatz, and change to the U2 underground line in the direction of Pankow. Exit at Eberswalder Strasse station.
From Tegel Airport TXLTake the TXL express bus to the Beusselstrasse stop, and change to the S-Bahn city train S41 (ring). Get off the train at station Schoenhauser Allee, and change to the U2 underground line, heading in the direction of Ruhleben or Theodor Heuss Platz. Exit at the Eberswalder Strasse station.
From Hauptbahnhof (main train station)Take the 245 bus as far as Nordbahnhof, and then take the M10 tram to Eberswalder Strasse.

Take the metro line U2 in southern direction (Theodor-Heuss-Platz or Ruhleben) and exit at the 6th stop, station “Spittelmarkt” From there it is about 15 minutes walk). Traveling time is 40 minutes.

From Haupbahnhof: change to any local train (S-Bahn) going east direction Alexanderplatz or Ostbahnhof. Change at the first stop “Friedrichstrasse” station to Underground U6 destination Alt-Mariendorf. Exit at 3rd stop station “Kochstrasse”. ; From there it is about 10 minutes walk to the house. Travelling time about 30 minutes.

From Tegel Airport:
By TXL ExpressBus to station “Alexanderplatz”, then by metro U2 direction “Ruhleben” or “Theodor Heuss Platz” to station “Spittelmarkt”. From there it is about 15 minutes walk to the house. Travelling time about 50 minutes.

all S-Bahn lines direction East, 1 stop to station “Friedrichstrasse” , from there 5 minutes walk to the university.
