EUCIS-LLL reaction to TTIP: New position paper "Why Education should be excluded from TTIP"

On 4 February 2015, EUCIS-LLL participated in the two stakeholder events focused on the TTIP negotiations. We were invited to a meeting with MEP Helga TrĂ¼pel (Greens/EFA, DE) together with EAEA, EUA and ETUCE, where we discussed about the position of education in the TTIP negotiations. At the Stakeholders event of the 8th Round of TTIP Negotiations organised by the European Commission, EUCIS-LLL reminded the chief EU and the US negotiatiors, Ignacio Garcia-Bercero and Dan Mullaney, that education is a public good and a human right. We stressed the need to explicitly carve-out education from the negotiations as for the audio-visual sector based on the public interest in preserving and promoting cultural and linguistic diversity. You can read our new position paper on "Why Education should be excluded from TTIP" on EUCIS-LLL website.
